This training provides an overview of substance use among older adults, including current prevalence, epidemiologic patterns, and emerging trends. Participants will examine age-related factors that influence substance use, treatment engagement, and health outcomes, as well as current gaps in research and clinical guidance for older populations. The training will also explore barriers to treatment, principles of age-friendly care, and practical strategies for improving identification, engagement, and support of older adults with substance use disorders.
